Long before the Dixie Chicks were hatched, Lloyd Maines, father of "Chick" Natalie Maines, had established himself as a country music giant, both as a legendary steel guitarist and a producer. His first tracks on Joe Ely's 1977 self-titled album established him as one of the elite musicians of Texas. Since then, he's appeared with some of the best artists in the business, including Guy Clark, Radney Foster, the Dixie Chicks … even David Byrne and Wilco.
